The Bouquinerie needs you!
A bookshop full of inspiring ideas
An absolutely unique bookshop in Madagascar
The Bouquinerie is a unique bookshop on the Red Island, somehow atypical and pathfinder on the territory. It's the headquarter of lots of encounters, projects, ideas, et to last and carry out all these good ideas, the bookshop needs you today!
This bookshop goal is to facilitate access to reading, and this in many ways:
--- By proposing a big choice of second-hands books, more affordable. The Bouquinerie is the only second-hand bookshop in the whole country!
--- Also proposing old books, rare books, new books, on different topics: books for all likes and ages and all prices
--- By proposing online personalized advices and suggestions of books: the Bouquinerie is a real bookshop that succeeded in the challenge to keep online convivial communication with the readers. Every reader is pampered as possible, being given suggetsions of books, advices, for him, of to offer books to his children or friends.
--- Proposing the shipping to the whole country using bush taxis and couriers. Bookshops are rare in Madagascar, and transport network is extremely complicated (sometimes 3 hours for 10 kms in Antananarivo), so the online Bouquinerie is very important for all Madagascar readers. The Bookshop can provide with books readers in Provinces, and readers in Tana that simply have no time or can't move.
--- By receiving in the bookshop readers in the territory, thanks to the ideal premises found in july 2020: ideally located between several french and malagasy schools, in the North of the capital, to the airport side, where there are no bookshop and no library. The first floor is already furnished, but needs new shelves. The second floor, all in wood and with a lot of space, is ready to receive many books and shelves, and readers as soon it will be ready (with armchairs, small tables, lights, tufted cushions...). It's indispensable to keep those premises, that have all the potential of a wonderful bookshop
--- One of the goals is to get books stocks in a maximum of languages, to propose interesting books to expats from all countries. Today, there is no english, chinese, korean, german, spanish, russian etc. bookshop in the whole country. Yet there are many expats from many places. Malagasy studying languages also need access to multilanguage reading. The bookseller Linda studied languages at university (Chinese-english-spanish-german and also initiation to russian, japanese, greek...) A good point to communicate with readers from everywhere. The Bouquinerie will sure become a Multilanguages Bookshop, always in the spirit of a headquarter where we meet new people, and share many positive things!
--- Other objective: add to the catalog newer books, books on improvement, entrepreneurship, positive mind, creative arts, writing, art of living, ecology, zero waste, nature, lots of children books, etc. A secret list of irresistible books that the bookseller really wants to propose in the shelves.
--- Another project is the editing part: The Bookshop will editate books, original stationnery (such as postcards, notebooks, etc. with lovely illustrations - i am also an illustrator), inspiring and positive, to add a greater choice in the Bookshop, and help to be known other writers and illustrators. Some of the books are already on preparation, and part of the stationnery is ready to be printed, we only need funds to start the printing. An inspiring, creative magazine about books, travelling, illustration, nature, art of living is being prepared too.
--- The Bouquinerie will also organize writing ateliers, reading ateliers, Murder parties, mystery book club, etc.
--- A Reading Book Club has been created in 2020, because lots of young readers where asking for this, as there is no library in that part of the town (French libraries are too far)
--- Some readers can buy cartons of second hand books to offer to bush libraries
As you can see, the Bouquinerie is full of fantastic ideas, and very usefull in Madagascar.
That's why, dear readers from everywhere, book lovers, travelers arrived on that page, do not hesitate to add your your part to the project, we need you! And Madagascar readers need you!!
